A Night with Lea Salonga

Finally I get to blog about my amazing last SUNDAY! As the title said it all, I went to Lea Salonga's concert in Malaysia. But before that, let me tell you about my amazing breakfast + lunch! I went to my mother's friends' gathering while waiting for Aliza to be done with the Amazing G-Race (cause I'm sleeping over).

Guess where I had my breakfast + lunch? It's about RM 55 ++ per person for a buffet. A Japanese buffet that is, in Zen at Sunway Pyramid. So this is roughly what they ordered...

Yeah, that's not all I've ate; just some of it. Go ahead and try if you are interested. If I'm not mistaken, it's every Sunday from 12.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. So be there on time! For those who does not know Lea, she is the voice singer for Disney's Princesses; Mulan's Reflection and Jasmin's A Whole New World.

She really has great vocals! I love her singing Reflection. I was really touch by this song, mainly because I am somehow there now. Instead of dissapointing those around me, I'm actually dissapointing myself... Beside the Malay song she sang, she also sang Lady Gaga's Poker Face. Started in an acoutic way then came rock... If only the hall was filled with youngsters, her daughter would not be the only one dancing in front!

A Side that You Never Knew Existed!

Aliza is a woman who has lots of discipline, hardworking and calm but at the same time crazy too. However, lately her attitude and behaviour changed drastically. She started to count moles on others' body, check out others' ass and wanting to smack it! Her friends are starting to be afraid of her! Just this Wednesday, something happened in Tutorial that shocked her friends.

Ms. Elaine; Developmental Psycho lecturer, introduced the class to an assessment. So in groups of three, they are asked to carry out all tests. The first one happened to be, identifying as to whether the participant (child) is able to distinguish gender roles (boy/girl) using Barbie and Kent. Second is to identify whether the child is able to understand numbers and quantity (coins; (1) two rows of five 20 sens, (2) one row spread out). Lastly, is size and quantity. This is where Aliza's friends and classmates started to 'freak out' or rather laughed loudly and non-stop.

Why do we need to categorize MALE and FEMALE?

Thought there would be lots of argument but it turns out not. Well, at least Dr. Priya expected it... Why? Two words; GENDER STEREOTYPE! Yup, it's the topic of the day.

The title of the post; Why do we need to categorize male and female? Its the first question she asked. Do you guys know why? I bet some of u actually went, 'Huh?!' right? Hahaha... I did too! I was like how am I suppose to know... We took like 5 minutes to think then suddenly Ian (the sole debater) raised his hand and said.... You will sure go, 'Ha?! That's it?!'. Try guessing, don't think too much... Its the main reason for technology to exist... It's also a human tendency...

Have you got it?! Okok, I'll reveal it... but don't feel stupid yeah =) It's because.....

'To Make Life Easy!'

Told you not to think too much! Here is another one... Why does gender stereotype happen? Again don't think too much, the answer is pretty easy... One words; Innate! So we were talking bout some of the stereotype from the theoretical perspective...

1. Biological- females reproduce wisely (only with THE ONE), males... well, not wisely but rather WIDELY (everywhere)

Dr, Priya said it's a stereotype cause.....some females are not satisfy with just only one male! I don't think I need to elaborate much on this..

Then she lectured bout the differences and comparisons:

1. Aggression- males is more of physical aggression whereas females.... I think all of us know how we tend to fight with each other, right?! Dr. Priya, 'When girls fight, your ear drums will be torn out! The level of sound... makes you wanna tear off your ear drums!'. Verbal aggression, for those of you who didn't know.
2. Sexuality-females more partner-centered orientation (based on relationship), whereas males... Haihz, guys are being guys, body-centered orientation (just to orgasm; satisfaction). Anthropologist says, 'Everywhere sex is understood to be something the female have that the males want' -> thats y males pay 4 sex!

It's not social psych without jokes of course! One of the funniest is... As we were talking bout traditional roles of women, suddenly we went into menstrual cycle... Suddenly Micheal (Korean guy) commented that women will feel less women when they reach menopause... Of course all of us were puzzled by his comment... As Dr. Priya tries to explain to him that is not the case, Natalie just cut in and said,

'Women will feel less women when they lost their vagina!'.

The whole class burst out laughing crazily... Though she can be scary at times, but when she crack jokes its super duper funny till u laugh rolling on the floor with stomachache!

And OMG, I never knew that Somalis rites of passage is so super duper sick and painful! Females, when they reach puberty, they have to sow their vagina. When they get marry, they would open the stitches a little bit... Reason is so that the guys would have maximum satisfaction when having sex! This is so so SICK! Do you need to do that for maximum pleasure?! There are always other ways!

Then in Mexico, females when born are branded (using the hot stick) 11 times on their body whilst males only 9 times. Reason behind this is to warn off evil spirits. Dr. Priya commented, 'They think it can warn off evil, but they don't understand that the baby's spirit could leave the body also!'.

I respect other cultures' traditions but some are just too unbearable and inhuman! How can they treat women like trash?! If guys are all mighty, why not try pushing out a baby?! This include my own culture and traditions too!

P/S: This is something Dr. Priya told us. Please do not be offended... According to the history (Hinduism, if I'm not mistaken, please correct me if I'm wrong), the Lingam signifies the equally position of Males and Females, it's in the Lingam structure. You have to see it symbolically, with a little imagination...

Who Will Win the World Cup?

England? Portugal? Brazil? Japan? or South Africa?

Well, England has Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Ashley Cole, Carrick... But looking at Rooney's condition, will he be able to make it? It's a good thing Beckham is out (since he failed the previous time). Gerrard is out too due to injury. And the rest, I don't really know who they are...

Portugal? Hmmm.... The only person I know is Ronaldo... And that's about it! Hahaha...


Brazil.... Cute and handsome looking Kaka is there, Ronaldo is there, Ronaldino is there... Hmmmm... looking bright, these are really good players! Brazil team is looking good but fitness, well.... I hope they are fit and trained enough for the world cup...


Then, of course not forgetting the Asian side Japan... Though I don't know much but one thing is that Japan and South Korea are the representatives of Asia... Sadly our country is pretty much not good enough or rather not on par with the international standards... it's really saddening.


Or for all you know it could be South Africa itself, since it's their home ground and not to mention, they may have luck on them...


Me personally, I think Brazil might be the winner. Why? No idea, but their players are looking strong and good, don't you think. Brazil is famous for talented football players anyway... or at least in my opinion...Hehhehehe....

Celebrate Good Times... Come ON!!!

After not seeing each other for two months plus, finally we met up! To celebrate my belated birthday of course! Though at first I thought is just only a normal gathering. But it was fun although, Kyle and Zaleha could not make it! We met up at....

Yup, Manhattan Fish Market at Mid Valley! Though it's expensive (it's only middle of the month and I still haven't pay gym yet) but it's ok lar... Most of us ordered the set lunch since it's only RM 19.90, ala carta RM 13.90. So this is afordable.

Baked Dory Fillet with Plum Sauce

This dish is served either with rice or chips, it's your choice. But either which, it still tasted good. We spent about 3 and a half hours there, chatting away. And also waiting for SOH CHUI MAY, who can't seem to find the place though she looked up on the directory; she has been 'sesat-ed' for half an hour in Mid Valley looking fo the place. Since the line in lower ground floor is really bad, so she can't get through any of us.


Tracy also bought me a cake, banana cake. Sorry, got picture but can't upload cause Jayden (my laptop) can't detect the driver at all... But the cake was delicious!!! Though I'm not a fan of banana cake except for Chocolate Banana from Secret Recipe (it's an exceptional).

So yeah, catching-up with each other.... Listened to May's fascinating story of her twin friends. She can't seem to differentiate between the two guys, so ended up getting fooled by both the brothers. Finally, she can't take it no more and observed them... Finally was able to distinguish both of them through the way they looked at her!


And then, we went to New Zealand Natural for some ice-cream.... So there May told us a lame joke, wait. It's not even a joke... But it made her looked lame... She was just telling us that she found it funny that her friend; who happened to have the same name as her, keying in her facebook login account six times to login into Taylors' blackbroad or something like that...


At first I thought she was gonna mention something funny but then she just ended it there! So who looked lame now? Things that she finds funny is just exactly what she does to make us laugh!!! So Tracy was telling her, 'Now you know why we laughed at you,'.


After that, of all places... we went to Cold Storage since we really got nothing to do... So there we were wondering around looking at fruits, cheese and Korean Ramyuan ( I have no idea why May said Kimchi when she saw the Ramyuan). The funniest part was she always thought that Morzerella is a type of chocolate brand instead of CHEESE!!!! She only found out when she saw it in Cold Storage!


And to my surprise, she have no idea what ISA is! This coming from a accounting student who took business law! She thought ISA was a mental institution and she have no idea who is Raja Petra... Haihz, how ignorant can my friend be?!

After almost a week of holidays, my brain starts to function slow. I was processing information so slow yesterday, well practically could not think well. May be due to the dropping books and wish for help, was getting boring, tiresome and painful at the same time. Too tired and irritated to process any information I guess...

Bang! BAng! BANg! BANG!

Did my social experiment today. Topic is Pro-social behaviour and Bystander effect. My left arm is hurting like hell!!! It's so painful and it stink! Me and Aliza alternately, every 15 to 30 minutes, carried two hardcover textbook, one file and a stack of papers.

I have no idea how many times I've dropped the books, file and papers. At first it was really embarrassing but somehow, it got boring and tiresome especially on the arm since we both sort of pretended to be on the phone. Some were real calls, some were fake (we talked to ourselves).

The promoters there, OMG there are so 'SAMPAT' and busybody! Throughout the first 3 hours, they were standing outside their shops and stared at us! Especially the Thai Massage workers! They were all sitting outside their shops and talked/ whispered about me and Aliza, every single time we past by the shop. It's so embarrassing...

So today, both of us finally know how to thicken up our face. Cause whenever we drop the books, not everyone will help us to pick up. There is this Malay uncle, when I dropped the books and papers, he just went, 'OH MY GOD' then walk off! I was like WHAT THE HELL?! Said OMG but didn't even bother to help! Some even worse... see you dropped your books they just avoid that and pretend as if nothing had happened!

But one thing for sure is that guys, when alone rarely would help whereas when with their friends or girlfriends, WOW, definitely help! Haihz... Guys nowadays, not that gentleman at all! Just wanna score in front of their girlfriends... well, at least they helped unlike those, 'OMG' walk away...

Oh oh oh... while we were rest, we saw this couple (Korean), they were walking and the girlfriend suddenly touched his ass and scratched his ass... surely lar all of us LAUGHED like hell! If only Micheal could get that on camera. Things that couples do in public. They really do not where the line is huh? And according to Aliza, that girl has just gone for NOSE PLASTIC SUGERY, cause her nose looked fake and that Micheal said that after the sugery it will look fake for about 2 years then only it will look real (in short Aliza called it 'Nose tak cukup masa'). That event itself just made our day! So funny...

In future, I would never wanna repeat this experiment ever again! It's too tiresome and MY ARM STILL HURT LIKE SHIT! This is worse than lifting weights in GYM!

By the way, thanks to all participants for helping us in our experiment. And also those viewers, yes I know we are well-known in Markesh lane, Sunway Pyramid. Thanks for not telling or informing the passer-byers of our experiment.

One week of break starts officially today! No more lectures, assignments, study... at least for a week... Just like a married couple's life.... You need time to be away from each other or else.... you would go CRAZY!!! It's the same for studies... Need to get away from lecturers, books, notes, journals and assignments!

I think eveyone was scared, since I really looked like a zombie on Thursday morning... Sorry, everyone...


And Peng-Peng, I heard you saying something bout me 'not able to wake up' when I was asleep... I'm not dead, just looked dead... Hahahaha... Even Dr. Priya asked why am I looking so dead?! Haihz... what to do? Need to finish my 'I don't know how to write essay' essay, die also need to finish it. It's freaking 20%!


But anyhow, ARIGATO, KAMSAMIDA, THANKS you guys! So so Much!!!



And during IO Psych lecture, we learnt how to make boats...paper boats! Its a competition.... So, me, Kar Yee, Aliza and Micheal... make 5 all together, though our target is 6, but its a job well done! One one boat was rejected!
